Title: Training and Employment Coordinator
Reports to: Executive Director
Hours of Work: Monday through Thursday 8:30 am – 4:30 pm and Friday 8:30 am to 1:30 pm (35 hours per week)
Term Position: Permanent Full-time as long as funding is secure
Salary: $45,500
Location: Tansi Friendship Centre – 4729-51st Street, Chetwynd
Job Duties:
· Present a positive and professional image of the organization during all interactions with outside agencies, staff, board of directors and community members.
· Facilitating job readiness preparation trainings, including but not limited to creating resumes, interview preparation, independent job search techniques and other forms of individual or group employment support services.
· Create intake forms and use with each client for reporting purposes.
· Facilitate pre-employment, career development, career exploration and goal-setting workshops for individuals or in group settings.
· Conduct employment assessments to determine candidates’ job readiness level. Create individual employment plans for each assigned client. Documents clients’ progress in the database that is created.
· Follow up with participants regarding job interviews and employment status and documenting in TFCS database for reporting purposes.
· Identify employment/ career related community events, such as job fairs, transport, and support at-risk clients during these events.
· Develop and maintain relationships with community partners that can assist with pre employment and career readiness activities such as job shadowing and community service.
· Create and maintain effective working relationships with diverse individuals.
· Conducts on-going job preparation, job retention and life skills classes (work with life skills coordinator to meet the needs of clients).
· To work as part of the Tansi Friendship Centre Team
· Assist with any other programs as necessary as put on by the TFCS organization
· Be familiar with all of the policies and procedures of the TFCS organization
· Involvement in fundraising activities
· Prepare a quarterly report to the board of directors
· Attend all staff meetings and the Annual General Meeting
· Maintain a high level of confidentiality in all interactions.
Assist with other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Strong written, listening, and oral communication skills in English.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational and leadership skills.
- Ability work in an intercultural environment.
- Knowledge of community resources and services within Chetwynd.
- Valid BC Driver’s License
- Must be proficient with computers and be able to navigate files, email, Microsoft Office programs.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision or direction, high degree of organization.
- A strong work ethic – reliable, punctual, and responsible.
- The ability to stay positive under pressure.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours.
- Criminal Record Check – vulnerable sector
- Valid standard First Aid or willing to obtain
- Valid food safe or willing to obtain
Start Date: ASAP
