Job Purpose

The ECE Supervisor plays a key leadership role in supporting the daily operations of the Cariboo Chilcotin Learning & Discovery Daycare Centre, ensuring high-quality, inclusive, and play-based programming, while fostering a positive, collaborative environment for staff, children, and families. This role involves mentoring and supporting educators, maintaining program quality, and ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all children in care.

Duties and Responsibilities

Team Coordination, support and leadership

  1. Develops and maintains staff schedules to maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios.
  2. Support onboarding and orientation of new staff and substitutes, providing mentorship and role modeling.
  3. Provide ongoing guidance and professional support to team members, encouraging reflective practice.
  4. Foster teamwork, respect, and positive communication among staff.
    Step in to lead a classroom or group as needed to maintain program continuity.
  5. Is responsible for managing the team daily, ensuring all work is carried out in alignment with organizational policies, HR procedures, and quality standards.
  6. Will regularly report team performance, staffing matters, and operational outcomes to the Operations Manager, providing timely updates, metrics, and insights to support effective decision-making.
  7. Any performance concerns, HR issues, or deviations from policy will be escalated to the Operations Manager in accordance with organizational procedures.

Program Quality & Implementation

  1. Support staff in planning and delivering play-based, inclusive, and culturally responsive learning experiences.
  2. Ensure programming aligns with the BC Early Learning Framework and the daycare’s philosophy.
  3. Encourage creativity, outdoor play, and child-led exploration in all classrooms.
  4. Monitor daily programming to ensure consistency and high-quality implementation across all groups.

Child Care & Guidance

  1. Model and support positive guidance strategies consistent with the centre philosophy and licensing standards.
  2. Ensure children’s individual needs are met, adapting activities as required.
    Observe, document, and assess children’s development, sharing insights with families and the Manager.
  3. Facilitate referrals or additional supports for children when necessary.

Health & Safety

  1. Ensure daily health and safety checks are completed and documented.
    Support staff in maintaining a clean, organized, and hazard-free environment.
  2. Monitor daily routines including snack, nap, and outdoor play to ensure smooth transitions.
  3. Respond promptly to minor incidents and escalate to the Manager when required.

Family & Community Connections

  1. Welcome families warmly and foster open, professional communication during drop-off and pick-up.
  2. Share children’s progress and daily highlights with families in a respectful and informative manner.
  3. Support family engagement initiatives, including events, celebrations, and community activities.

Qualifications

  • Valid Early Childhood Educator (ECE) certification in BC.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in early childhood education, including leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong understanding of the BC Early Learning Framework and inclusive child-centered practices.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to mentor and support staff while maintaining a collaborative and positive work environment.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.

Working Conditions

  • This role is based in a dynamic, inclusive daycare environment serving children from diverse backgrounds.
  • The ECE Supervisor may be required to work flexible hours to support program needs, including occasional evenings or weekends for special events.

Salary

  • $38.00/hour
