ABOUT NORTH CARIBOO SENIORS COUNCIL
The North Cariboo Seniors Council (NCSC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life, independence, and well-being of seniors across the North Cariboo region. NCSC works collaboratively with community partners, funders, and local government to advocate for seniors’ needs, support community initiatives, and deliver programs that foster connection, inclusion, and active aging.
JOB SUMMARY
The Executive Director provides strategic and operational leadership to advance the mission and objectives of NCSC. This includes overseeing program delivery, managing staff and volunteers, ensuring effective financial stewardship, and building partnerships with community stakeholders.
The ED also provides direct oversight of the Better at Home and Community Connector programs funded by United Way, ensuring effective delivery, reporting, and alignment with funder expectations.
As the primary liaison between the Board of Directors, staff, funders and the community, the ED ensures that all operations, communications, and initiatives align with NCSC’s strategic goals.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Governance & Board Support
a. Serve as the key liaison between the Board and the organization
b. Prepare Board and AGM materials, including agendas and reports
c. Represent NCSC at community events and meetings
d. Support strategic planning and policy development.
2. Strategic Leadership & Program Management
a. Oversee program planning, implementation, and evaluation across all NCSC initiatives
b. Provide direct supervision and oversight of the Better at Home and Community Connector programs funded by United Way.
c. Ensure programs meet contractual obligations, performance outcomes, and reporting requirements.
d. Lead and support staff and volunteers to achieve organizational goals
e. Identify and develop partnerships to strengthen community engagement and service delivery.
3. Financial Planning & Management
a. Collaborate with the Board to develop annual budgets and funding strategies.
b. Oversee day-to-day financial operations in conjunction with the bookkeeper
c. Ensure accurate grant reporting, including for United Way funded programs
d. Maintain fiscal accountability and adherence to best practices
4. Communications & Community Relations
a. Oversee communications including the website, newsletters, and the organization’s social media account.
b. Build and maintain positive relationships with funders and community stakeholders
c. Promote NCSC programs and initiatives within the community.
5. Administration & Office Operations
a. Maintain accurate organizational records and administrative systems
b. Respond to inquiries and ensure efficient administrative operations
c. Support overall organizational effectiveness through strong administrative practices.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Experience:
o 3 to 5 years in a senior nonprofit, community leadership, or management role
o Experience managing or overseeing funded programs
o Proven success in financial management, grant writing, and program development
Skills and Competencies:
o Strong leadership, relationship-building, and interpersonal skills
o Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
o Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel etc.) and understanding of QuickBooks
o Cultural awareness and respect for diversity
REMUNERATION & EXPECTED WORK HOURS
$29 per hour
16 hours per week
