Wage: $20 per hour

Hours: Full Time – 35 hours per week

Job Type: Temporary; student position for the summer

Two positions available: one starting in May and one starting in July.

 

Reporting to the Artistic/Executive Director, the Art Coordinator – Education will provide administrative, logistical and production support to our Summer School of Arts programming.

 

Our workshops and residencies run the artistic gamut, including literary, visual and live Arts. For the Summer of 2026, this is slated to include (but not limited to):

  • Watercolour/Gouache Painting – Multiple 1-day painting workshops to develop refined techniques.
  • Jam Camp North – a 5 day music learning program for students of all ages
  • The International Harp School – the 40th anniversary of a 5-day learning intensive featuring mentors, special interest classes and extracurriculars
  • Workshops + Gallery tours for groups in association with Gallery and Residency Artist Programming
  • Workshops for the public associated with our Art + The Forest programming
  • Workshops associated with the 2026 ArtsWells Festival

 

This position works in collaboration with the marketing, youth project, art gallery and production coordinators to support a cohesive schedule of events and transparent information dissemination to maximize attendance and satisfaction at IMA events.

 

This is an opportunity for a motivated, innovative, and precise individual who is passionate and knowledgeable about the arts to be part of the production team in this unique remote setting.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The key responsibilities of the Art Coordinator – Education are:

  • Assisting the Executive/Artistic Director in coordinating IMA workshops and guided residencies
  • Providing clear and timely communications between programming/production and Marketing.
  • Working with the IMA team to maximize the impact of visiting artists on the community.
  • Ensuring timely and effective internal communications
  • Tracking metrics, preparing grant reports and other documents.
  • Assisting with program implementation and execution where needed
  • Acting as a liaison between instructors, contractors and the organization.
  • Regular communication with staff, and accurate, up-to-date record keeping and report generation are essential functions of this position.
  • This position is a temporary placement for a summer student through Canada Summer Jobs and will only move forward with successful funding.

 

ABOUT THE HOURS

This is a full-time, 35 hour / week position and requires a willingness to work flexible hours as dictated by the needs of the job. Evening and weekend work will be necessary. This position requires work in Wells, though some work can occasionally be done remotely.
