SEASONAL HIGHWAY MAINTENANCE OPERATORS

Emcon Services Inc. is seeking reliable, safety-focused seasonal operators to help maintain highways and roads throughout Service Area 18. Join the North Cariboo team supporting safe travel during changing seasonal and weather conditions.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Operate and prepare snowplows, spreaders, patrol trucks, loaders and other light or heavy highway maintenance
• Perform seasonal road patrols, snow and ice control when required, drainage work, roadway repairs and other routine or emergency highway maintenance assignments.
• Conduct pre-trip checks; complete driver inspection records, timesheets, safety checks and operational
• Assist with routine equipment upkeep, cleaning, refuelling, greasing, blade changes and reporting repair
• Identify and report changing road conditions, hazards, incidents and damage to highway
• Support yard and facility maintenance, and perform other duties as assigned by the Road

WHAT YOU NEED

• Valid driver’s licence: minimum Class 5 with air brake endorsement; Class 3 with air brakes preferred. Class 1 is an asset.

• Ability and willingness to work rotating shifts, irregular hours and changing seasonal weather
• Safe equipment operation, dependability, teamwork and courteous communication with the
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of highway maintenance and emergency response
• Current, satisfactory driver’s abstract must be submitted with the application; pre-employment drug screening as a condition of employment.

EMPLOYMENT DETAILS

Position: Seasonal, full-time or part-time | Union: BCGEU

Wage: Starting at $36.24/hour, with flexible benefits under the applicable collective agreement.
