Type of Position: Part Time-Term Certain
Classification: Level One, Youth Recreation Worker
Rate of Pay: $18.25 per hour
Term: May – October (weather permitting)
Hours of Work: Mondays and Wednesdays 3pm-7pm, Some special event and varying schedules with notice
Location: 17 South 4th Avenue various outdoor locations

Main Areas of Responsibility

• Supervise youth and children age 6 – 12 and 13- 18 in our Mountain Bike Program on rides in manner that upholds the agency’s goal of providing a safe, supportive and welcoming environment for youth and children to grow and develop their biking skills.
• Assisting in helping maintaining the bikes and equipment that is used for the biking program.
• Help plan, organize, and implement weekly rides.
• Maintain the safety of the participants at all times.
• Maintain record of attendance, incidents and communication among staff and with volunteers

Time Commitment:

• Mondays Beginner Level (ages 7-11).
• Wednesdays Intermediate/Advanced Levels (ages 12-18)
• Each session will be from 3pm-6pm Monday and Wednesday. Plus, meetings to plan rides and
  activities.
• Position starting early May and ending in Mid-October (weather permitting).

Qualifications

• Experience planning recreational activities for large groups of youth
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Confident in outdoor pursuits eg: Mountain Biking, Hiking
• First Aid Level One
• 2 – 5 years mountain biking experience
• Knowledge of local mountain bike trails

Condition of Employment:

• The successful candidate must complete and successfully pass a Criminal Record Check.
