Job Title: Assisted Living Dietary Aide (Part-time)

Schedule: Saturday, Sunday, Monday

Hours of work: 3:30pm-7:30pm (4 hours per day)​

Hourly wage: starting at $22.51

Job Summary: The Assisted Living Dietary Aide, reporting to the Assisted Living Executive Director/Site Leader and/or Cook, is responsible for assisting in the provision of meals, beverages, and snacks for all residents at the site. ​

The role supports the social model of care philosophy and is a valued member of the interdisciplinary team, ensuring a culture of safety and excellence in dietary service delivery. ​

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and serve residents during meal service. ​
    Assist in preparing daily meals, beverages, and snacks as directed by the Cook.
  • ​Prepare special meals for site events and parties. ​
    Set up the dining room, deliver meals, and clean up after meals and events. ​
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and dining areas. ​
  • ​Perform monitoring and documentation tasks (e.g., temperature checks, cleaning schedules).
  • ​Minimize food waste and complete shift-specific tasks. ​
    Communicate respectfully with residents, families, and staff. ​
  • Follow infection control practices and emergency procedures.
  • Participate in meetings and committees as required. ​

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Grade 12 education.
  • ​Experience in meal preparation or serving, preferably with seniors. ​
  • WHMIS and Food Safe certification required. ​
  • Fitness to perform job duties. ​
  • Clear, recent criminal record. ​

Physical Demands:

  • Significant sitting, standing, reaching, walking, lifting, and transferring.
  • ​Occasionally lift objects up to 20kg, frequently up to 10kg, and constantly up to 5kg. ​
  • Frequent eye-hand coordination and fine motor tasks. ​
  • Ability to handle physically and mentally demanding situations.

​Skills and Abilities: ​

  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively. ​
  • Clear communication in English.
  • ​Compassion, dependability, maturity, and self-discipline.
  • Ability to operate related equipment. ​
  • Physical ability to perform job requirements. ​
  • Related experience preferred, including volunteer work or practicum with dementia patients. ​
