Cariboo Family Enrichment Centre (CFEC) is looking for a counsellor to join our team in beautiful 100 Mile House, BC.
Our Community:
We are located on the traditional lands of the Tsq’escenemc (Canim Lake First Nation) within Secwepemcúl̓ecw and is the primary service Centre for the South Cariboo.
Approximately 2,000 people live within the municipality, while roughly ten times this are in the greater service area, which includes the communities of 70 Mile House, 108 Mile Ranch, Bridge Lake, Canim Lake, Forest Grove, Lac La Hache, Lone Butte and Horse Lake, among others. The area is known for outdoor activities, including an extensive trail system for hiking, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, ATV riding, fishing, boating and camping.

Job Description:
As a counsellor you will work with individuals, couples, and families across a wide range of issues, such as reducing interpersonal conflict, improving communication and trust, navigating
difficult emotions, setting goals, and involvement with intimate partner violence.
Counselling services at CFEC are supportive and non-pathologizing in nature. Regular professional development is a core element of our commitment to the care of our clients and team members. For promising candidates who meet the minimum educational requirements, we are willing to provide mentorship and additional training. This is a full-time position with the potential to be a career; flexibility is possible.
Qualifications:
· Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field (psychology, social work, education, counselling, nursing etc.), a Master’s Degree is preferred.
· Criminal Record Check.
Accountabilities:
Foster and practice self-care
Build and sustain rapport with a diverse clientele
Maintain a regular caseload
Properly document client services, including notes, case conceptualizations, and forms.
Advocate for clients, including referrals to external agencies when appropriate.
Develop and delivery group courses
Engage in regular supervision and peer consultation
Work both independently and in a team environment
Consultation and collaboration with community partners, including Interior Health, local schools, Community Corrections, and the Ministry of Children and Family Development
Remain abreast of best practices through self-directed education and formal trainings
Attend staff meetings and participate in organizational groups, such as subcommittees
Abilities and Behaviors:
· Broad understanding of trauma informed practice
· Strong awareness of identity factors such as gender, race, cultural diversity, sexuality and intersectionality
· Effective verbal and written communication skills
· Good time-management
· Adaptable to new or unexpected situations, including creative problem solving, prioritization, and conflict resolution
· Competent in computerized work-environment, including proficiency with Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office tools, email, and web-browsing
Hours: 21 – 28 hours per week with the potential for a flexible work week.
Wages: Minimum starting wage is $32.05 plus attractive benefits package.
