JOB POSITION FOR A COUNSELLOR/OUTREACH WORKER
The Quesnel Women’s Resource Centre is hiring for a Stopping the Violence Counsellor/Outreach Worker to provide individual and/or group counselling, support, outreach, and advocacy services to women and families. This person will provide counselling services from a feminist and trauma-based perspective; and within an accessible, safe, supportive environment which respects everyone’s individual rights, safety, and human dignity, regardless of economic status, gender, race, cultural or ethnic origins, physical or mental ability, or sexuality. This position also entails providing local transportation, accompaniment, and advocacy as required (e.g., medical emergencies, legal, or social service appointments). QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in social work or in a related field
- An equivalent in education, training and years of experience
- Must approach work from a feminist perspective
- Experience working in a feminist women’s centered environment an asset
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Able to work independently and as a positive member of a team
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing
- Prioritize and organize time and work assignments independently
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for travel
- Valid First Aid Certificate
JOB TYPE: Full-time (37.5 hours/week) for the period of six months with the possibility for extension. Wage: $41.62 plus benefits following probation period.
