Morgan (31F) is in a wheelchair and is nonverbal – nonverbal simply means she doesn’t talk, she is quite able to vocalize the heck out of you.

Morgan swims two afternoons a week and goes for multiple “walks” so you need to be comfortable with some physical activity and in water. Swimming isn’t required, more like bobbing along with her but you must be comfortable in water. We have equipment for lifting and moving so it’s awkward but not strenuous.

Key Responsibilities:

·        Provide daily living activities (dressing, personal hygiene, laundry, tube feeding)

·        Maintain a tidy and hygienic environment

·        Engage and participate in activities including walks and/or swimming

Available Shifts

We are more interested in your attitude, ability to get along and focus on our client as we provide lots of training and support. The job is located at her shared apartment in Quesnel. You never know, if you are going to school or looking to try something new, this could be great for you!

Benefit Package

We have a ten-point plan for the benefits of working with the Friends of Morgan Society:

1. starting wage is $23.50

2. employee benefit package for any employee that regularly works over 20 hrs per wk

3. flexible vacation scheduling

4. reimbursement of certificates/training

5. two (2) paid mental health days every year

6. birthdays off with pay every year

7. extra paid time off at xmas

8. staff appreciation bonuses

9. substitute five statutory holidays per year

10. farm fresh eggs every week

Every shift generally requires a level of personal care, feeding, laundry, light cleaning of living area, and some activities. Morgan likes listening to music or having books read to her, she loves the wind in her hair, and if she wasn’t in a wheelchair we would have a hard time keeping up with her because she loves movement.

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until both shifts are filled.
