We are seeking a reliable, energetic, and compassionate Personal Care Assistant to provide full assistance with all activities of daily living, including personal care, bathing and hygiene, dressing, incontinence care and related support with a young adult with cerebral palsy that is living at home with her parents in Quesnel, BC. This role is focused on helping the individual maintain independence, engage with the community, and manage daily living activities.

Strictly smoke-free position. The client has severe reaction to cigarette smoking or vaping of any kind and will lower threshold of her seizure medication and will result in seizure activity.

  • Location: Quesnel, BC.
  • Job type: Part-time or full-time.
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., except statutory holidays.
  • Pay rate: $29.75 per hour, depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide bathing, dressing, grooming, and companionship support.
  • Accompany the individual on community outings.
  • Prepare G-Tube meals and support meal-related needs
  • Perform light housekeeping related to the individual’s needs, including tidying the room, doing dishes, and similar tasks.
  • Assist with bed mobility, repositioning in bed, and wheelchair positioning.
  • Use a ceiling lift to safely transfer the client between bed and wheelchair as needed

Companionship

  • Act as a supportive peer.
  • Engage in shared hobbies such as videos, art, crafts, and other preferred activities.
  • Support a positive, respectful, and encouraging environment.

Job Requirements

  • Previous experience working with individuals with cerebral palsy or physical disabilities is preferred, but we are willing to train the right person with the right attitude.
  • Physical stamina is needed.
  • Ability to safely transfer the client using a ceiling lift and adjust seating and bed positioning as needed.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract.
  • Must be able to pass a comprehensive criminal background check and reference screening.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential.
  • Certifications such as Personal Care Assistant, Life Skills Worker, or CPR are a bonus, but not mandatory.
