JOB TITLE: Supported Child Development Support Worker (SW)

Casual – maximum 15 hours per week
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction and supervision of the Supported Child Development Program Consultant, the Support Worker assists children and youth with extra support needs to attend and participate in community childcare programs, including licensed daycare, preschool, and afterschool settings. The Support Worker works alongside childcare staff, following the plan of care that has been developed by families, the Supported Child Development Consultant, and other members of the CDC Team for individual children or youth on caseload. The Support Worker’s priority is to ensure inclusion and participation for all children by providing that “extra set of hands” to encourage and support children who need individualized encouragement and skill development.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Grade 12
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Completion of a childcare course
- 2 – 3 years recent experience working with children requiring extra support preferred
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
- Ability to organize time and follow instructions
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule in order to meet the needs of the children as required
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written
- Knowledge of children with special needs an asset
WAGES: Starting $27.91 as per the Health Science Professionals – Community Collective Agreement
