Full-time Summer Position with potential for extension.
Dedicated to advancing sport participation and excellence in the north, Engage Sport North provides high quality sport participation and development services and programming to athletes, coaches, officials and sport leaders. In addition, Engage Sport North offers introduction to sport opportunities and physical literacy skill development to children and adults. Engage Sport North works with people of all ages and abilities from those new to sport to experienced athletes and coaches on a high-performance pathway.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
As an Engage Sport North Leader your duties will include:
- Lead Sport Discovery Programming such as Community Multi-Sport programs, Active Star, Try-it Programs and day camps.
- Providing a fun environment and encouraging all children to participate in all activities and teaching physical literacy through sports and games;
- Effectively problem solve and communication with all staff, participants, and caregivers;
- Being always aware of the surroundings and the location of all participants;
- Maintaining a safe environment and protecting the health and safety of self, participants, and staff;
Education, Experience and other assets:
- Grade 10 education or higher
- Front-line experience working with children and youth;
- Experience coaching or participation in recreation and/or high-performance sports. Coach training will be provided.
- Outgoing, energetic, self-starter who will have fun with children while leading sport activities.
Skills and Attributes:
- Organizational skills to plan daily activities & carry them through effectively and while paying attention to detail;
- Effective verbal and written communication.
- Good Customer service with the ability to communicate with caregivers in a professional manner.
- Work proactively with minimal supervision;
- Ability to work in a team environment;
- Ability to think critically and act logically, evaluating situations and generating steps to achieve success.
Requirements:
- Eligible to work in Canada;
- Applicant must be able to provide a criminal record check for the Vulnerable Sector;
- First Aid and CPR training is an asset.
- Have reliable transportation to and from recreation facilities in the Quesnel area
- Availability to work 8 weeks consecutively throughout the summer
