Role Overview: We’re seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to manage day-to-day accounting for a portfolio of clients. You’ll be responsible for transaction processing, reconciliations, basic financial reporting, and collaborate with CPAs on period-end close.
Key Responsibilities
- Record and categorize transactions (AP/AR, expenses, credit cards, payroll journals) in accounting software.
- Prepare monthly bank, credit card, and loan reconciliations; investigate variances.
- Maintain clean, organized general ledgers and subsidiary ledgers.
Process vendor bills and client invoices; - Prepare monthly/quarterly financials (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) and management snapshots.
- Assist with month-end and quarter-end close tasks, accruals, and adjusting entries.
- Coordinate payroll inputs and post payroll entries; liaise with payroll providers.
Maintain sales/use tax records; assist with filings and support documentation. - Support CPA team with year-end workpapers, and audit/tax requests.
Communicate proactively with clients to clarify coding, missing documents, and timelines. - Contribute to process improvements and documentation (SOPs, checklists).
Qualifications
- 2+ years of bookkeeping or staff accounting experience in public accounting or industry.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online or Xero or Sage 50; comfortable with Excel/Google Sheets.
- Strong understanding of GAAP basics, debits/credits, and reconciliations.
- High accuracy, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize across multiple clients.
- Clear, professional written and verbal communication.
Preferred
- Experience in a CPA firm or client accounting services (CAS).
- Multi-entity consolidations, class/location tracking, or project/job costing.
- Sales tax compliance and personal tax preparation experience.
Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or related field; or equivalent experience. - Basic knowledge of accrual vs. cash basis and revenue recognition concepts.
