Cariboo Family Enrichment Centre (CFEC) is looking for a Raven Peer Support Worker to join our team in beautiful 100 Mile House, BC.

Our Community: We are located on the traditional lands of the Tsq’escenemc (Canim Lake First Nation) within Secwepemcúl̓ecw. This is the primary service centre for the South Cariboo.  Which includes the communities of 70 Mile House, 108 Mile Ranch, Bridge Lake, Canim Lake, Forest Grove, Lac La Hache, Lone Butte and Horse Lake, among others. The area is known for outdoor activities, including an extensive trail system for hiking, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, ATV riding, fishing, boating and camping.

Job Description: The Raven Peer Support Worker will work with the Raven Coordinator to assist with the daily operation of the Raven Activity Centre, from set-up to closing, which supports youth collectively and on a drop-in basis. There the Raven Peer support Worker will draw on the wisdom and knowledge they have gained from their own struggles in order to actively engage with, support, and act as a positive role model for youth between the ages of 9 and 18, especially those who are vulnerable.

Qualifications:

·        High school diploma or equivalent (minimum); certificate or greater in a related field (preferred)

·        Lived experience as a vulnerable young person with a willingness to (a) self-identify as such and (b) share earned wisdom; and/or prior experience as a participant at a youth drop-in centre

·        Experience working with children and youth

·        Clear criminal record check

·        Valid Standard First Aid and CPR

 

Responsibilities:

·        Operate the Raven Youth Activity Centre

·        Provide a safe, inclusive environment for youth

·        Draw upon personal experience to share earned and learned experience with youth with similar struggles

·        Help youth to become more self-sufficient

·        Offer practical and emotional support to youth

·        Assist youth in making healthy choices

·        Take a culturally competent and trauma-informed approach at all times

·        Participate in internal case conferencing meetings to promote continuity of care

·        Assist in making referrals to appropriate specialists or community agencies

·        Organize and facilitate group activities, including sports and recreation

·        Engage in reflexive practice and professional development

·        Work within parameters of applicable organizational contracts and agreements

·        Work as an active member of the CFEC by attending regular staff meetings, and other meetings as required

·        Adhere to all CFEC policies and procedures, Mission, Vision and Value

·        Other duties as required to best support staff and clients of CFEC

 

Hours: May-August up to 20 hours per week, Sept-March 2027, 8 hours per week depending on programming.

Wage: $23.59 per hour
