Finance Assistant
Job Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Finance Assistant to join our finance department. This position is designed for individuals who have a desire to learn and grow on the job, with no prior experience required, although it is considered an asset. The Finance Assistant will provide essential support to our team by assisting with various finance-related tasks, helping to enhance efficiency and ensure smooth operations. This role is primarily focused on providing additional support as needed, rather than taking over key responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable:
• Assist in processing invoices and ensuring timely payments to vendors.
• Help maintain positive relationships with suppliers.
Accounts Receivable:
• Support the management of customer invoicing and track payment statuses.
• Follow up on overdue accounts under supervision.
Reporting:
• Aid in the preparation of financial reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Payroll Support:
• Assist in verifying employee hours and updating payroll records.
• Help ensure timely disbursement of salaries.
Record Keeping:
• Maintain organized financial records and assist during audits.
Objectives/Purpose
The Finance Assistant will help relieve the workload of existing finance team members, contributing to overall departmental efficiency. This role is essential for maintaining operational continuity and supporting critical functions without taking over key responsibilities.
Training
Comprehensive training will be provided, covering:
• Familiarization with financial software and tools used for accounting, payroll, and reporting.
• Understanding of company policies, procedures, and compliance regulations.
• Development of technical skills related to data entry and financial reporting.
• Integration into team workflows to ensure effective collaboration.
Expected Outcomes
The Finance Assistant will contribute to:

Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is a plus.
• No prior experience required, but relevant experience is an asset.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Conditions of Employment
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Criminal Records Check
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid BC Driver’s License
Salary: As per company salary grid: $22 – $25
Hours: 35 hours per week
Location: Williams Lake
