Job Summary

 

The Director of Health & Wellness is responsible for the coordination, delivery, administration and evaluation of community-based health and wellness services.  This position will liaise with other service providers to meet identified community health and wellness needs and to assist in the development of integrated holistic services.  The Director possesses excellent communication skills and is a result-oriented individual with an ability to establish effective relationships.  The Director has knowledge of the health and wellness challenges and opportunities specific to the community and provides leadership to develop culturally relevant and safe programs and services that will meet the health needs of the community.

 

Program Management:

  • Provide leadership and direction to planning, organizing, implementing, maintain and evaluating culturally relevant and safe health and wellness programs and services in a manner that is respectful of diversity and in alignment with the culture and traditions of SXFN.
  • Lead consultative processes regarding community health planning needs and opportunities, including identification of relevant health and wellness priorities.
  • Ensure programs and services follow legislation and organizational policies, processes, and procedures and are aligned with the vision of SXFN strategic plan.
  • Manage the budget and financial reports of the health and wellness programs and services, including efficient utilization of the budget.
  • Prepare and monitor work plans, including reporting through regular and annual reports.

Education:

  • Degree in Human Services, Health Services, or a related field (e.g nursing, health care management, home support worker, social development or another related degree) or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
  • Completion of the First Nations Health Directors Association Certification Program is an asset.

Experience:

  • Significant, recent, and relevant experience working in a health setting (five years or more) including the development, implementation, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of health and social services programs and services.

Education:

  • Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Accounting, or related field preferred
  • Professional Accounting Designation (CA, CGA, CMA preferred) or, a combination of education and experience will be considered

 

Experience:

Minimum Five years of progressive financial experience performing strategic financial leadership, managing financial functions (accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and general ledgers) reporting, and undertaking financial analysis, investment analysis and risk management.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Providing financial planning, statutory and compliance reporting, investment management, and budget management.
  • Ensuring compliance with SXFN Financial policies and procedures.
  • Developing and maintaining timely and accurate financial statements and reports.
  • Developing an investment strategy for First Nation funds.
  • Establishing guidelines for budgets and forecasting.
  • Developing the annual Risk Management Plan.

Natural Resources Senior Manager

Job Summary :

The Natural Resources Senior Manager supports the success of the organization by leading the planning, delivery, and evaluation of natural resource programs in line with the organization’s vision, goals, Land Use Plan, Comprehensive Community Plan, and the NStQ Yecweminul’ecw Land and Resource Use Agreement.

They are responsible for upholding and advancing Aboriginal Title and Rights in all their work. As the lead for stewardship of Tsq̓éscen̓ First Nation’s lands and resources—including wildlife, plants, soil, and water—they prioritize long-term sustainability in all programs and initiatives.

The manager oversees the referral program to ensure the protection and sustainability of traditional territories and collaborates with the NSTC/NStQ Natural Resource Stewardship department and G2G Agreement partners to support shared goals and policies.

Duties/Responsibilities :

1. Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Tsq̓éscen̓ First Nation policies, standards and procedures, and as directed by the Chief Administrative Officer

2. Maintains confidentiality on all matters relating to the affairs of the Tsq̓éscen̓ First Nation

3. Develops an operational plan which incorporates goals and objectives for programs and services, including program delivery and evaluation for all areas of natural resources including forestry, mining, pipelines, hydro, and associated areas

4. Updates and maintains the Land Use Plan and Comprehensive Community Plan (CCP) ensuring that the wishes of community members are incorporated

5. Consults with the Forester for activities based on extraction, harvesting, development and salvaging and the financial impacts

6. Oversees the referral process that are received through NStQ portal system NSTC Connect and ensures referrals are reflecting the needs of Tsq̓éscen̓ First Nation and documented in the GIS system

7. Meets regularly with government bodies, industry, First Nations organizations, etc. to share information and identify problem areas, then work towards developing solutions to issues

8. Identifies, promotes and coordinates partnership opportunities with Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal communities focusing on resource management initiatives (i.e., NSTC, Simpcw FN, Fraser Basin Council)

9. Conducts needs assessment with the community to identify gaps and provide targeted plans to address concerns

10. Attends technical meetings to agree on priorities and actions for G2G Agreements

11. Provides reports to Chiefs and Executive Committee on G2G Agreements and issues

12. Consults and liaises with other natural resources experts to share information and to potentially formulate joint special projects which would enhance the delivery of existing programs and services (i.e., lawyers, Forester, other communities)

13. Other duties as assigned or required

Indigenous Justice Coordinator

Job Summary :

The Indigenous Justice Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing innovative approaches to enhance the delivery of First Nations justice through the Restorative Justice and Alternative Measures framework. This role includes monitoring and supporting adult community offenders and victims of crime using the Restorative Justice model. Additionally, the Coordinator delivers trauma-informed practices and services that align with the Tsq̓éscen̓ First Nation’s vision and values and oversees the Family Wellness Centre Well-being Program. The coordinator works collaboratively with Tsq̓éscen̓ First Nation Departments and other stakeholders to support and empower families, promoting holistic well-being and cultural continuity.

Duties/Responsibilities :

General Duties:

· Adheres to all policies, procedures, and confidentiality requirements as directed by the Chief Administrative Officer or Health Director.

Community Justice Practice:

· Develops and implements a Community Restorative Justice Program as an alternative to the court system.

· Establishes protocols with RCMP, government agencies, and community stakeholders that reflect Tsq̓éscen̓̓ values and priorities.

· Promotes traditional justice practices and creates a sentencing advisory process.

· Drafts legal documents and maintains confidential records.

· Supports offender accountability through tailored strategies and programs.

· Offers support services to victims and offenders.

· Monitors offenders and keeps detailed records.

· Builds relationships with justice-related organizations and the public.

· Coordinates education, training, and awareness programs.

· Refers clients to other local resources and liaises with legal and community services.

Outreach:

· Assists clients with probation, parole, and reintegration.

· Supports both on- and off-reserve clients.

· Attends court hearings and supervises clients through visits and check-ins.

Coordinator/Admin:

· Maintains detailed and confidential case records and reports.

· Submits regular service and program reports to Probation Services, Corrections Canada, and other stakeholders.

· Presents annual program updates at the Tsq̓éscen̓ AGM.

· Supports budget development for the Restorative Justice Program.

· Engages in ongoing professional development to maintain knowledge and skills.
