Job Summary :
The Natural Resources Senior Manager supports the success of the organization by leading the planning, delivery, and evaluation of natural resource programs in line with the organization’s vision, goals, Land Use Plan, Comprehensive Community Plan, and the NStQ Yecweminul’ecw Land and Resource Use Agreement.
They are responsible for upholding and advancing Aboriginal Title and Rights in all their work. As the lead for stewardship of Tsq̓éscen̓ First Nation’s lands and resources—including wildlife, plants, soil, and water—they prioritize long-term sustainability in all programs and initiatives.
The manager oversees the referral program to ensure the protection and sustainability of traditional territories and collaborates with the NSTC/NStQ Natural Resource Stewardship department and G2G Agreement partners to support shared goals and policies.
Duties/Responsibilities :
1. Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Tsq̓éscen̓ First Nation policies, standards and procedures, and as directed by the Chief Administrative Officer
2. Maintains confidentiality on all matters relating to the affairs of the Tsq̓éscen̓ First Nation
3. Develops an operational plan which incorporates goals and objectives for programs and services, including program delivery and evaluation for all areas of natural resources including forestry, mining, pipelines, hydro, and associated areas
4. Updates and maintains the Land Use Plan and Comprehensive Community Plan (CCP) ensuring that the wishes of community members are incorporated
5. Consults with the Forester for activities based on extraction, harvesting, development and salvaging and the financial impacts
6. Oversees the referral process that are received through NStQ portal system NSTC Connect and ensures referrals are reflecting the needs of Tsq̓éscen̓ First Nation and documented in the GIS system
7. Meets regularly with government bodies, industry, First Nations organizations, etc. to share information and identify problem areas, then work towards developing solutions to issues
8. Identifies, promotes and coordinates partnership opportunities with Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal communities focusing on resource management initiatives (i.e., NSTC, Simpcw FN, Fraser Basin Council)
9. Conducts needs assessment with the community to identify gaps and provide targeted plans to address concerns
10. Attends technical meetings to agree on priorities and actions for G2G Agreements
11. Provides reports to Chiefs and Executive Committee on G2G Agreements and issues
12. Consults and liaises with other natural resources experts to share information and to potentially formulate joint special projects which would enhance the delivery of existing programs and services (i.e., lawyers, Forester, other communities)
13. Other duties as assigned or required

- Knowledge of and/or willingness to learn about the Secwepemc Nation, culture, traditions, and values.

- Capable of responding to competing demands in a variety of situations.
- Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office. (You are capable of using considerable number of functions and feel confident using the program)
- Excellent telephone etiquette.

- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- A team worker, capable of working with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to learn and contribute.

Education/Requirements :
· Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Resources Management or equivalent education and experience
Conditions of Employment :
· Must be able to obtain and maintain a Criminal Records Check
· Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid BC Driver’s Licence
· Must provide a vehicle in good operating condition and appropriate vehicle insurance to meet program requirements OR access to company vehicle is provided and requires a valid Driver’s Licence
Term: PERMANENT Full Time
(35 hours/ week) (Monday – Friday)
Hourly rate of Pay: As per the Tsq’escen First Nation Salary Grid & based on experience.
