Job Description:

Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions

Address customers’ complaints or concerns

Professionalism in customer service

Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy

Drive lighter, special purpose trucks: A 5-ton box truck with hydraulic brakes (similar to a U-Haul moving vehicle).

Load and unload goods

Operate and drive a 5-ton box truck with hydraulic brakes to transport goods and materials

Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment

Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle

Perform preventive maintenance

 

Requirements

 

Education: Completion of secondary school is required.

Experience: At least two years of experience as a truck driver is required. On-the-job-training is provided.

Class 5 Driver’s license is required OR an equivalent international driver’s license that meets Canadian licensing standards is required.

Mountain driving expertise is a strong asset.

Documentation knowledge: Accident or incident reports and Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip).

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Attention to detail, Handling heavy loads, physically demanding, Repetitive tasks, Sitting.

Personal Suitability: Efficient interpersonal skills, Excellent oral communication, Excellent written communication, Flexibility, Judgement, Organized, Reliability, Team player, Hardworking, Patience.

Weight handling: Maximum 2000 lbs.

Language: English is required

 

Salary: 36.60 CAD.  40 hours per week

Important Information: Flexibility on schedule is required. Regular scheduled is from Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 05:00pm. Weekends required as needed.
