Receptionist / Front Desk

Full-Time | Monday–Friday | $18.82/hour + Benefits

The Friendship Centre is seeking a welcoming, organized, and dependable Receptionist / Front Desk Administrator to join our team. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the successful candidate will play an important role in creating a positive and respectful environment for clients, visitors, staff, and community members.

This position requires strong communication skills, professionalism, cultural awareness, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a community-focused organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Answer and direct incoming phone calls and take messages for staff
  • Greet clients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner
  • Direct visitors and clients to appropriate staff members or services
  • Record and distribute incoming and outgoing mail daily
  • Maintain organized client files, records, and documentation
  • Perform data entry and general administrative support duties
  • Complete filing and other office administration tasks
  • Maintain awareness of front desk activity and ensure a welcoming environment
  • Work independently while contributing positively as part of a team
  • Support organizational activities and events as required

Qualifications & Skills

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to work respectfully with people from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Computer literacy and data entry experience required
  • Ability to take direction and work under the supervision of the Executive Director
  • Valid BC Driver’s License and access to reliable transportation preferred
  • Willingness to assist outside regular duties when needed

 

Wage & Schedule

  • Wage: $18.82 per hour plus benefits
  • Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required and will be compensated with equivalent time off, subject to approval by the Executive Director.
