Environmental Department Superintendent

Mount Polley Mining Corporation (MPMC) has a position available for a full-time Environmental Department Superintendent. MPMC is seeking an experienced professional with a strong technical background to join our hardworking and dedicated team. The working schedule will be four (4) ten (10) hour day shifts of work, Monday through Thursday, followed by three (3) days of rest.

Qualifications:

The Environmental Department Superintendent will report to the Mine Operations Manager or his designate, and is responsible for providing oversight of all daily and scheduled tasks required in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of, and reporting on, Environmental Department activities at the Mount Polley Mine. The position will require a strong technical understanding of environmental science, and specifically, water chemistry.

Requirements

  • Valid Professional Designation, such as P.Chem, P.Eng, or R.P.Bio, registered with a professional affiliation
  • Ten (10) years’ experience in the natural resource sector, preferably the mining industry
  • Five (5) years’ experience in a supervisory or management position
  • Experience with oversight of an environmental management system, specifically with QA/QC and water quality data analysis
  • Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing and at a technical or layperson level
  • Knowledge and use of Microsoft office programs, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with data management and data management software is considered an asset
  • Valid driver’s license
