The City of Dawson Creek is seeking to hire a casual Community Program Instructor to assist with the delivery of community recreation programs. Under the direction of the Community Culture & Recreation Manager, Community Program Coordinator or designate, the Community Program Instructor oversees recreation activities including sports programs, and camps. The instructor is also responsible for gym monitoring and instructing drop-in programs. The instructor will operate with minimal supervision, may occasionally develop lessons plans or lead other staff.

Requirements:

  • Must have a minimum of a valid Class 5 Driver’s License,
  • OFA Level 1 (or equivalent) with CPR C and AED Certification and,
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record/Vulnerable Sector Check through the RCMP.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Supervise and assist with drop-in programs including sport programs, camps, and other recreational activities.
  • Program Instructors are responsible for supervision during the program, implementation of the program including opening and closing of building, setting up, and post-program clean up as necessary.
  • Manage cash and electronic transactions for recreation program activities.

Aboriginal Supported Child Development / Infant Development Worker

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Aboriginal Supported Child Development / Infant Development (Early Years Worker) will work within the context of a multi-disciplinary team and agency. The position will work in consultation and with additional supports to ensure inclusion of children within childcare facilities, preschool, daycare, and school age care settings as well as one on one with children needing developmental supports. In collaboration with parents, childcare facilities staff, consultant, and team members assist in developing an individualized program plan, a medical or behavioural plan as needed. Services are delivered in both Williams Lake and the Chilcotin.

Minimum Requirements
•Diploma in Early Childhood Education with a current BC License to Practice, Child and YouthCare, or related field (e.g. nursing, education, psychology, social work) is required.
•Three years’ experience in inclusive childcare preferred.
•Experience working with children aged 0 to 19 who have developmental delays.
•Experience in creating and implementing an individualized plan to support a high-risk child/renwith special needs.
•Demonstrated ability to use a cultural safety framework when working with Aboriginal children,families, and communities.
•Skill in administering formal and informal developmental assessment tools, and documentation.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as computer skills including MicrosoftWord, Excel and Outlook.
•Well-developed planning, organizing, administrative and decision-making skills.
•Ability to work effectively with program staff, Ministry staff, community groups and agencies
•Strong conflict resolution skills.
•Valid Class 5 Drivers License; clear criminal record.
•Willingness to work and travel to remote communities multiple times per week.
•Ability to work independently, good organizational, time management skills and computer skills.

Salary $29.78

•Must have experience working with Indigenous children, youth, families, and communities,
•A valid BC class 5 driver’s license and criminal record check are mandatory,
•Must be willing to travel to remote communities in all weather conditions and available evenings and weekends when required.

100 Mile Vision Care Centre is seeking a new team member to join our busy practice.

Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Visitor Center Counsellor to join our team. As a Visitor Centre Counsellor, you will be the first point of contact for visitors, providing exceptional customer service and expert guidance on local attractions, services, and events. This is a seasonal position starting in May and ending in September, 30 hours per week, $19.89/hour. The start and end dates may change based on the needs of the business and the individual/applicant.

Duties

  • Respond to visitor inquiries in person, by telephone, and by email in a prompt and courteous manner
  • Provide accurate information to visitors regarding destinations, transportation, accommodations, etc.
  • Promote tourism products, events, and services in the Quesnel and Cariboo Chilcotin Coastal areas
  • Gather and record statistical information per Tourism Quesnel specifications
  • Post and share current information of interest to visitors
  • Maintain brochure racking and ensure adequate inventory is available
  • Review and support the updating of visitor materials, as necessary
  • Complete sales transactions for merchandise sold
  • Provide visitor services at special events or festivals
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures as outlined for the Visitor Centre
  • Other tourism and administrative duties as assigned

Eligibility Criteria

Are currently enrolled and returning to secondary or post-secondary studies.

Are between the ages of 15 and 30

Qualifications

Minimum grade 10 education
Experience working in the Tourism Industry or SuperHost/Service Excellence training would be an asset but will be provided
Customer service experience preferred, either paid or volunteer

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
