Personal Care Assistant

Male C5 quadriplegic looking for care worker to fill a unique job opportunity in a private home in 108 Mile Ranch and on an off-grid rural property in 70 Mile House.  I’m looking for someone who believes that care work is more than just personal care – your job would also entail helping me navigate my life and assisting me to participate fully in my interests and hobbies. I have an off grid rural property in the Cariboo that I enjoy spending time at and am continuing to develop. Part of your role would be to receive direction and assist me in the projects I have going on at the property. This would include (among other things) carpentry work, using a chainsaw, and operating a tractor. Experience for these tasks is not necessary, simply a good work ethic, a willingness to learn and an open mind. I do of course also need help with classic care work tasks like meal prep, showering, dressing, laundry, housekeeping etc. I will train the right person in my routine no matter their level of experience. I like to travel, so it would also help if you had a passport.

First aid certificate, valid drivers license, and criminal record check are required. Care Aid Certificate is not a necessity, but experience in the field an asset. I do keep a regular working schedule, but staff must have some flexibility to cover additional shifts in the day, evening and overnight on occasion. You must be able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Part time hours: 24 hrs./week including day shifts, evening and overnight

Wage: starting at $21/hr. plus 6% in lieu of benefits and vacation pay.

If this sounds like an interesting opportunity to you or tweaked your curiosity please send me a note along with your resume as to why you might be a good fit for this position.
