Architectural Designer / Draftsperson
Pioneer Log Homes of British Columbia Ltd., home of HGTV’s “Timber Kings”, is a worldwide leader in the design and manufacture of custom handcrafted log homes. We currently have an immediate opening in our design and drafting department for a CAD Architectural designer-draftsperson. We invite individuals possessing a draftsperson designation to also apply as we are willing train the right candidate.
Job Duties:
· Create designs from concept through to design development
· Prepare architectural working drawings and construction specifications from approved designs
· Check and verify design drawings to conform to specifications and design data
· Prepare revisions to existing working drawings as required
· Resolve complex technical and design issues
· Work independently and as part of a team liaising with client, contractors, builders, engineers, and sales staff
· Prioritize and manage drafting tasks to support the budgeted hours and scheduled deadlines for projects
Education and Skill Requirements:
· Degree in Architectural Design with a minimum of 2 years related experience in the design and drafting of residential buildings, or a Diploma in Architectural Technology with 2 years related experience
· Strong proficiency in Computer Assisted Drafting
· Ability to work under deadlines and have a demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
· In-depth understanding of the fundamentals of residential wood frame construction practices and techniques
· Knowledge of building codes, standards and building structures
· Ability to interpret architectural, structural, survey and topographic drawings with relative ease
· Experience with 3D rendering applications would be considered an asset
· Solid working knowledge of MS Office Suite
· Excellent communication skills (interpersonal and written)
