Three Corners Health Services Society, in partnership with Canim Lake, Canoe Creek, Dog Creek, Soda Creek, Williams Lake, and Alkali Lake is looking for a Mental Wellness Clinician who understands holistic health including all aspects of the mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual quadrants. This holistic approach applies to individuals, families and the community as a whole. As part of the wellness team and allied professionals within the Nation, the Mental Wellness Clinician will work collaboratively with community, staff and membership.

The Mental Wellness Clinician, in partnership with each community’s health and wellness team, will provide holistic support through the context of Nation cultural values and beliefs for health, intellectual, emotional, physical, traditional, and spiritual well-being for clients and/or their families.

Overall, the Mental Wellness Clinician will serve clients/families in need of support with serious and persistent mental wellness concerns such as PTSD, complex trauma, depression, anxiety, and/or others. You will be required to work as part of a holistic inter-disciplinary team utilizing both western and traditional healing approaches and medicines.

Qualifications
The successful applicant must have knowledge of First Nations peoples, as well as, a good understanding of colonization and the unique history of Indigenous peoples in Canada. This understanding includes the impacts of colonization both past and present. The individual will practice from a trauma-informed and culturally safe paradigm. Flexibility in working hours and regular travel is a requirement of the position.

We are seeking a candidate with:

-Counselling experience working within a First Nations context;
-Masters’ degree from an accredited university in an Allied Health, Behavioural, or Social Science field relevant to the position;
-Current membership in a recognized professional association is preferred;
-Five years’ recent related experience in a mental health and substance use environment or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience;
-Group facilitation experience in both traditional First Nations approaches and mainstream approaches;
-General competency in concurrent disorders;
-Excellent communication skills and cross cultural communication experience;
-Current valid B.C. driver’s license and reliable vehicle;
-Ability to complete successful advanced criminal record check.

Natural Resources Referrals Assistant

Job Summary:

The Natural Resources Referrals Assistant will contribute to the overall success of the Xatśūll/Soda Creek Natural Resources department by assisting the Referrals Coordinator in responding to referrals and by going on site visits.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Address referrals in conjunction with the Referrals Coordinator
  2. Liaise with government/third party interest groups regarding resource development and extraction
  3. Field visits to concerning referrals sites
  4. Handwritten reports on field visits and photographs presented to Referrals Coordinator
  5. Assisting in mapping, research, and documentation of Traditional Knowledge & Use studies

Qualifications:

  • Education/experience in the natural resource related sector is an asset
  • Knowledge of Traditional Uses and familiarity with Traditional Territory
  • Intermediate experience using computer programs, email, internet and digital mapping an asset
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build professional and cooperative relationships

The Youth Services Leader key responsibilities are:

1) Design, deliver and evaluate programs for youth ages 7-18

2) Provide services to youth in care referred by MCFD to the “Transitions to Independence” Program

3) Provide leadership and mentorship to staff and volunteers

4) Represent the organization and advocate for its services and program participants throughout the community

5) Lead and participate in workshops and recreational activities

Key Job Qualifications:

  4. Ability and willingness to lead and participate in recreational activities requiring a good level of physical fitness

Job Purpose

The Reconnect Youth Outreach Worker will provide crisis intervention, support, referral and advocacy services to youth ages 11-18 who are otherwise without positive adult relationships, in unstable living environments, and/or are participating in anti-social health compromising and self-destructive activities.

  • Pro-actively seek at risk-youth, primarily in non-agency settings in the community, in order to develop a relationship of trust and begin to address issues of mental and physical health, family relationships, personal choices, abuse and wellness

The Invasive Species Council of BC (ISCBC) is a registered charity whose members are involved in all aspects of invasive species management across BC.

The ISCBC is working in partnership with provincial government and local community partners in Williams Lake and 100 Mile House to provide practical skills development and field experience in inventory, treatment and monitoring of invasive species, with a special focus on invasive plants. A special key component in the project will be working with provincial agencies carrying out survey, restoration and reclamation in wildfire areas. Also included in this program is assisting teams in gaining outreach and public presentation skills by developing invasive species presentations, displays and booths for presenting at a wide variety of community events and settings.

What does a Supervisor do?

With the support of ISCBC, the Invasive Species Supervisor is responsible for program delivery in one of three locations, including, but not limited to:

  • Develop, coordinate, manage and report on the local work plan
  • Supervise and support a team of three program participants
  • Maintain daily/weekly contact with Program Manager
  • Perform invasive species activities, including invasive plant, survey, inventory, control and reporting
  • Ensure correct safety and treatment procedures are used at all times
  • Ensure correct and safe use of all control equipment
    Ensure all equipment is maintained and stored appropriately at all times
  • Ensure professional team approach during all field and office operations and at all public outreach events and presentations
  • Participate in orientation session, weekly planning sessions and joint review
  • Hold weekly safety sessions to ensure all relevant practices are followed
  • Input and ensure accurate entry of treatment data into Invasive Alien Plant Program (IAPP) database.
  • Ensure regular and complete project reporting

Who are we hiring?

Invasive Species Supervisor will have proven field experience including, but not limited to:

  • Technical field records and data management
  • Strong commitment and knowledge to safety standards
  • Knowledge of local region and navigation and mapping skills
  • Invasive and native plant identification
  • Best Management Practices for invasives, including invasive terrestrial plants
  • Invasive plant management techniques, including use of herbicides
  • Experience in public education/awareness/outreach

What skills do you need?

As an Invasive Species Supervisor you will lead a team of three people in field activities and in community outreach and extension on a daily basis. You need to be knowledgeable, outgoing, and confident. Successful candidates must be self-motivated, highly organized, responsible, work well in a team and be responsive to direction from the Program Manager.

Ideally, you will have a strong combination of the following skills:

  • Past field experience in field survey, inventory and/or layout
  • Past experience/knowledge on invasive plant identification and treatment
  • Past supervision and work planning experience
  • Valid Industrial Vegetation and Noxious Weed Pesticide Applicators Certificate or past experience
  • Valid Class 5 (or 4 ) BC Driver’s License
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience conducting field research or field operations and managing data
  • Ability to travel and work in variable environmental conditions
  • Strong and effective communications skills

Other skills that will help you with this position:

  • Ability to read maps and operate IPad with various GPS mapping programs
  • Experience working with online databases and/or IAPP
  • Practical field experience or certification, or working towards a technical certificate or degree in natural resource science or have graduated
  • Current WCB Level 1 First Aid certification preferred
