The Lytton First Nation is currently recruiting a dynamic, energetic, self-motivated and professional Band Administrator for their main office at 951 Main Street, Lytton, BC. The position is classified as a full-time permanent position basis. Working under the support and supervision provided by LFN Chief and Council, the Band Administrator will oversee day-to-day operations of the Band Administration and will be responsible to plan, organize, direct, control, evaluate and work with 11 Program Managers and report to funding agencies. The successful applicant must be competent in all aspects of Human Resources and Financial Management as well as strategic planning, implementation and follow-up. All requirements are to ensure that the needs of LFN Membership are met in a timely and efficient manner.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A University Degree in Business Administration or related field
  • Leadership effectiveness, minimum five years’ experience at a senior management level working with a First Nations organization
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to plan, develop and manage programs
  • Experience in financial management, budgeting and reporting
  • Experience in proposal writing and knowledge of funding sources
  • Able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong technical skills and ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Valid Driver’s License and a reliable vehicle
  • Submit to and pass a Criminal Record Check

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Public speaking skills along with team leadership, management skills and social awareness
  • Strategic planning skills and time management skills
  • Thorough knowledge of all federal, provincial and other funding sources and reporting requirements

Personal Care Worker

The Lytton First Nation is currently recruiting a Personal Care Worker for the Health Department. Their main office is located at 1535 St. Georges Road, Lytton, BC. This position is classified as full-time, working under the support and supervision provided by the Home Care Coordinator and Home Care Nurse. The worker will provide in-home support services to the clients in the Home & Community Care Program. This position may include evening and weekend hours.

Duties:

  • Provide home care to elders, disabled persons and others in the program with identified needs
  • General housekeeping
  • Meal prep
  • Medication Compliance; administer/monitor, store medications safely
  • Monitor blood pressure/blood sugar and other physical conditions as required
  • Follow medical instructions carefully and consistently
  • Assist with exercises, physiotherapist and other medical plans
  • Assist clients to appointments and activities in the surrounding communities

Qualifications:

  • Valid BC Driver’s License and personal vehicle required
  • Personal Care Worker Certificate or
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in related position

HOME CARE AIDE SUPPORT

The Esk’etemc Health Department is seeking a very positive and energetic person to fill the position of Home Care Aide Support. The successful candidate will be under the direction of Home Care Nurse.

Specific Duties:

  • Provides personal care services under the supervision of the HCC Supervisor in accordance with the client’s care plan, including bathing and grooming, toileting, dressing, skin care, eating, transferring, assistance with mobility aides and related activities.
  • Assist with client transportation, adult day program, housekeeping and home management services in accordance with Health & Safety Standards.   The client’s care plan, including house cleaning, laundry, ironing, meal planning and preparation, safety and security checks, shopping, light snow removal or sidewalk clearing related to the safety of clients and related services.
  • Provides short-term (hourly) respite services to allow family care givers some personal time.
  • Under the supervision of the HCC Supervisor provides information and education to clients and family members regarding home management and housekeeping techniques that will assist the client and family with self-care.
  • Provides support to clients and accompanies them to social, cultural or recreational activities where appropriate.
  • Assists clients in keeping appointments with various health services.
  • Monitors and observes changes in the health status and observes clients behaviors; regarding, their living situation and reports these to the HCC Supervisor.
  • Reports client health status changes to HCC Supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Assists HCC Supervisor & HCC Nurse with in-home nursing services; for example, dressing changes, vital stats, and with proper training and transfer of function with skills assessment test.
  • Participates in community activities maintaining good relationships with community members.
  • Contributes to the Team Communication process and line of authority.
  • Advises health care personnel and visiting health professionals on Local traditions and culture affecting health, the availability of traditional medicine and healers in the community and on the balance to be sought between traditional First Nations and Western medicine and Community conditions that may impact on the health of community members.
  • Provides administrative support to the community health programs by Maintaining records, writing and submitting monthly activity reports to the HCC Supervisor and Esk’etemc Health Director as required.
  • Performs all duties in accordance with the Esk’etemc Personnel Policy, Code of Ethics and Code of Confidentiality.
  • Team oriented to Home & Community Care staff and clients.

Experience

  • Knowledge of Health issues and needs of First Nations people.
  • Knowledge of the structure of health delivery in British Columbia.
  • Good communication skills with patients and health care providers.

HOME SUPPORT/ HOMEMAKING

The Esk’etemc Health Department is seeking two very positive and energetic people to fill the positions of Home Support/ Homemaker. The successful candidates will be under the direction of Home Care Nurse.

General Accountability & Responsibility:

  • The Home Support/ Homemaker will act as support services for the Health Department.
  • The incumbent reports directly to and is supervised by the Home & Community Care Nurse. The incumbent works autonomously but must maintain professionalism and be accountable for each work day and the required duties.
  • The incumbent performs all duties in accordance with the Esk’etemc Personnel Policy, Code of Ethics and Code of Confidentiality. 

Specific Duties:

  • Assist with housekeeping with the organizations Health & Safety standards. Follow the client care plan regarding housekeeping, laundry, meal prep, etc.
  • Monitor and observe any changes in the health status or behavior of client’s and their living situations and report these to the Home & Community Care Nurse in a timely manner (verbally for urgent, Kardex reporting system for non-urgent).
  • Maintain accurate records of services provided to client’s (online charting – Mustimuhw).
  • Maintain accurate km records for Health Centre vehicles (km log sheet in vehicle)

Experience

  • Knowledge of Health issues and needs of First Nations people.
  • Good communication skills with patients and health care providers.
  • Ability to be sensitive to client’s cultural/spiritual needs.

Education

  • Minimum Grade 10 education OR equivalent experience.
  • Ability to use online charting system and email.
