Summer Student Worker

Casual Safe House Coordinator – 100 Mile House & District Women’s Centre Society

100 Mile House & District Women’s Centre Society is seeking a casual Safe House Coordinator.

Summary:  Coordinate and implement the delivery of Safe House services to women and children in need of this service.

Reports to:  Executive Director

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist women and children leaving abuse or violence (or leaving situations where they are “at risk” of violence) and find safe temporary housing
  • Be available AT ALL TIMES when on call – shifts are on call 24 hours per day
  • Participate as a member of the staff team and Women’s Centre as a whole:

-Be in the office to do paperwork (stats, schedule, and reports)

-Check emails

-Attend staff meetings and share information with Women’s Centre support staff as appropriate

  • Write and submit reports as required, maintain up to date records of all services provided and fill in all statistical forms
  • Distribute Safe House posters to appropriate place in community at regular intervals
  • Record ALL requests for services – placements and non-placements
  • Direct referrals to appropriate agencies and programs
  • Perform other related duties as required
  • Follow conditions of employment as detailed in the policy manual, including the confidentiality agreement

Experience, Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Excellent personal and workplace boundaries
  • Excellent communication skills

Community Health Nurse

The Three Corners Health Services Society is currently seeking a full-time Registered Nurse to join their dynamic health team to provide Community Health Nursing (CHN) services for the First Nations’ communities of Soda Creek, Canoe Creek and Williams Lake.

Within the CHN role, the nurse will provide health promotion and prevention programs for individuals, families and the communities.  They will also deliver the communicable disease program.  On occasion, the CHN will develop comprehensive care plans for community members of all ages with acute, chronic and rehabilitative care needs in consultation with the Home Care Nurse.

Qualifications and Skills

·         Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or equivalent combination of training and experience

·         Current practicing member of  CRNBC (or eligible to register)

·         Immunization Certificate or willingness to obtain within 3 months

·         Current CPR C or equivalent certificate

·         Computer experience with Microsoft Office, Outlook, PowerPoint & Publisher

·         Valid BC Driver’s License

·         Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

·         Knowledgeable regarding cultural competency in professional nursing practice

General Working Foreman

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Director of Public Works, this position is responsible for the efficient and productive coordination of day-to-day operations for the Public Works and Parks Departments in the District of Logan Lake. The General Foreman is a working position that must work independently or in conjunction with operational staff. Moreover, it is expected that the successful candidate must be capable of operating heavy equipment as well as engaging in extensive labor activities with operational staff. This position requires coordination and monitoring of personnel, equipment and materials to productively execute, plan and direct day-to-day activities of operational staff. Operational responsibilities include, but are not limited to, road and sidewalk maintenance, snow removal, solid waste collection, operation of the Districts water, sewer and storm systems, including necessary inspections, parks, cemetery and campground maintenance, as well as building and facilities operation and maintenance. This position is required to make independent judgement in dealing with issues and delegate tasks to operational staff as required. There is a requirement for this position to prepare oral and written schedules and sketches pertaining to required operational maintenance activities and infrastructure repairs. Further, this position assumes supervision responsibility for efficient and productive day-to-day operations of all operational staff. Additionally, this position is responsible for overseeing work conducted by contractors working in conjunction with District operational staff while providing advice and technical guidance to the Director of Public Works regarding infrastructure. The ideal candidate for this position must demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be capable of independent judgement and possess a strong sense of initiative. These skills will be required to run effective crews, build a positive work environment and develop strong and respectful interdepartmental staff relations while ensuring a high level of moral is maintained. Working with operational staff, this position provides direct supervision and leadership to crew members as well as planning, scheduling, monitoring and reporting on tasks/projects that have been assigned. Based on direction from the Director of Public Works, the Public Works General Working Foreman will assist in developing and will execute the annual operation and maintenance plans for the following services:

  • Transportation Network
  • Storm Drainage
  • Sanitary Sewer
  • Water Supply, Storage, Distribution and Treatment
  • Municipal Parks and Lands (including Municipal Cemetery and Campground)
  • Municipal Fleet Vehicles and Equipment
  • Public Works Department Tools and Equipment

The working foreman will be responsible and accountable for all operation staff working safely within compliance of Work Safe regulations and the District’s Occupational Health and Safety Program. Further, this position will be responsible for mentoring and training operational staff. The Working Foreman will not be involved in any coaching or disciplinary action involving unionized staff. In the event of coaching or disciplinary action, the Public Works Director will address these corrective measures.
