Lumber Reload Operator

The Lumber Reload Operator is a full-time position based in Ashcroft, BC. Reporting to the Terminal Manager, the Lumber Reload Operator will work closely with container yard crew to safely and efficiently manage all lumber reload activities. The position will be expected to take on other duties and responsibilities not specified below on an occasional or on-going basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Safely operates forklift in unloading or loading of lumber
  • Responsible for inspecting, reporting-on and sorting all inbound lumber inventory
  • Prepares inter-modal container load plan designs based on customer order requests
  • Performs daily checks on forklifts and provides feedback as necessary
  • General housekeeping duties or various yard tasks are as required or directed by management

Ideal Qualifications:

  • Forklift Certified
  • Valid BC Driver’s License
  • High school or equivalent
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to execute a set of daily objectives
  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral
  • Safety-focused
  • Previous experience working in a lumber yard
  • Previous experience in the transfer of product from truck to storage, rail-car or container
  • Previous experience in the handling of ocean containers with top picks/reach-stackers considered a major asset
