Mentoring Coordinator
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Quesnel is hiring a Mentoring Coordinator. This is a permanent position 30 hours with a flexible schedule. The work spans several areas of responsibility in a dynamic non-profit agency that serves a broad regional area, including working with a Board, community professionals (i.e. School District 28), casework, and program supervision. The wage ranges from $22.00 to $25.00 based on experience.

The Mentoring Coordinator will provide In-School Mentoring support in accordance with the National Standards set out by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada. The Mentoring Coordinator will be responsible for the recruitment and intake of volunteer mentors with children and youth.
The Mentoring Coordinator will work within the guidelines, policies and mission of the Agency and will be accountable and responsible for specific projects as assigned.
Primary Responsibilities:
Recruit Mentors from the high schools and the community, accept and document applications of potential volunteers and clients (including parent, guardian, child, youth, etc.). Manage intake of volunteers including orientation, case management, reference checks of potential volunteers, facilitate the Pre-Match training program with volunteers and clients, inform volunteers of their acceptance or rejection, maintain case notes on all cases in accordance with National Standards, facilitate match closure processes. Presentations for school district staff regarding programs BBBSQ offers and share promotional material with other community partners. Sourcing funding and grant writing will be a portion of the position. With assistance from other staff, provide regular reports to Executive Director, or special reports as requested. Maintain strict confidentiality as outlined in agency Privacy and Confidentiality Policy. Ensure all volunteers are informed of any pertinent agency information such as group programs, change of policy, change of address etc. Perform administrative functions as required to manage casework. Make referrals to other agencies, other youth service agencies, other community groups, or clubs. Complete a yearly performance appraisal including goals and objectives for the coming year.
Qualifications:
In accordance with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada’s National Child Safety Standards, all Mentoring Coordinators must have:
“a minimum two-year post-secondary diploma in a related field (e.g. Education, social or human services, child and youth work, family studies)” or equivalent work experience.
