We are currently accepting applications for the 2019 Season at Big Bar Guest Ranch for Wranglers and ranch hands. Big Bar Ranch provides outdoor activities including trail rides, hiking, fishing, mountain biking and much more. The seasonal contract is from April to October.

The wrangler/ ranch hand is responsible to feed and round up all animals in the early morning. You must have the ability to brush-saddle-bridle up to 12horses in a time appropriate manner, mount and give a short demonstration to the participating guests of the trail ride. The rides can vary from 4hrs to a half or full day( which includes a break and a packed lunch) depending on the program of the day. You will care for up to 40 horses including other small livestock on property. Other duties include but do not limit to tack up-keep, fencing, irrigation, general cabin repairs, barn and trail maintenance. A first Aid certificate is highly recommended, if you can not provide us with a valid unexpired document we will provide you with the appropriate training.

As a ranch ambassador you are required to abide by the company policies and guidelines, entertaining and engaging with the guests and providing a remarkable tourism experience in our beautiful back country accommodation.

The Ranch cook will tend to breakfasts, lunch and dinner services on a rotational schedule. You will assist the head chef in preparation of safe food handling for these buffet services. We focus the theme of the menu on a western Canadian flare and always welcome creativity. We allow for learning opportunities and offer over 10 years knowledge in the industry. You will be responsible to maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen, refrigerator, storage room and recycling area. You must take fill and all temperature logs and inventory. Working in a clean and sustainable manner is mandatory to our standard. Food Safe Level 1 is required for this position.

As a ranch ambassador, the food that will be prepared out of the kitchen has a big influence on the guest experience. At Big Bar Ranch we take pride in the food we serve our guest and the etiquette we provide.

You will tend to changing the linen, replenishing complementary soaps, checking firewood and tidiness after each guest departure. In the busy summer season we also have a few tipi’s installed on property which will be used as accommodation and will require your attention.

As a ranch ambassador, it is important to remember that the cleanliness of the accommodation can and will affect the guest experience. It will reflect on the rest of the ranch, including your team members. At Big Bar we take pride in the work we do and hope that you will to!
