Receptionist

Shuswap Nation Tribal Council is seeing a dynamic individual for the position of Receptionist.  Permanent Full-time.

Responsible for scheduling appointments, maintaining the client walk in center, assisting clients and providing administrative support to the Program Manager in the Aboriginal Training and Employment Center.

Qualifications: Grade 12 diploma and completion of an Administrative Assistant Program an asset. Experience with multi-line telephone system. Experience with operation of business machines. Website training and experience maintaining a website and Facebook page. Experience with:  Microsoft office suite of programs. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Fisheries Field Technicians

Chinook Mark Recapture:  Recover chinook carcasses, conduct biological sampling. Collect quality data. Includes weekend work. Coho enumeration. Fish trap and fence operations includes night-time operations. Maintain debris-free fence, biological sampling of coho in traps, supervise DIDSON (sonar) operations. Seining exercises. Planting associated with habitat, restoration work; conduct fishing surveys (Creel); attend trainings that may occur on weekends or away from Merritt.

Qualifications: Valid Driver’s license. NVIT  or BCIT renewable resources Diploma or minimum 1 year experience in the field of Fisheries. Technical knowledge  (data collection, specifies ID, etc) safety awareness, good communication skills, able to work with minimal supervision.

$13./hr. depending on experience.

Job Summary: The Soda Creek Indian Band (SCIB) is currently recruiting for the position of Executive Assistant to the Band Administrator and Chief and Council. The successful applicant will provide administrative support and will perform a variety of functions that require a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality. The individual must possess excellent secretarial skills (including the ability to take meeting minutes), be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines as required.

Education & Experience:

·         Post-secondary education in Public or Business Administration or a related field or proven combined experience

·         Experience in a secretarial or executive assistant capacity

·         Must be able to perform administrative duties including personnel file management, compose letters and respond to email correspondence, and arrange travel and accommodations as needed.

·         Keyboarding speed of 40 words per minute or more. Must be competent with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Power Point and Excel.

·         Chief and Council: prepare meeting kits in advance, set up boardroom and arrange catering.

·         Human Resources: post vacant staff positions, collect resumes and coordinate the hiring process.

·         Technology: be the contact person for computer maintenance and internet problems, obtain quotes and purchase hardware and software as requested.

·         Security: set up and monitor staff alarm codes, passwords and key sign out process.

·         Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

·         Must have and maintain a Class 5 Drivers License

·         Must provide and maintain clean Criminal Record

·         Monday to Friday, 8:30 – 4:30pm (35 hours per week)

Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

The Mayor and Council of the Village of Lytton are seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide full-time financial officer services under the oversight of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). The CFO will plan, direct and manage the Village of Lytton’s overall financial plans and policies, along with its accounting practices, the conduct of its relationship with governing boards and organizations, and with the members of the Village’s financial community. The CFO will be a member of the senior management team and function as a key advisor to staff and council, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with Council, internal customers, members of the community and government agencies. The CFO is responsible for the statutory financial administrative duties under the Community Charter and Local Government Act, and will be responsible for the development of finance-related bylaws, and will attend Council meetings and committee meetings as required.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have an accounting designation, CGA, CA or CMA and five years’ experience in a parallel field related to municipal finance, preferably in local government. Knowledge of PSAB accounting standards is required, experience in preparing and conducting audits, as well as knowledge and experience in CaseWare and MuniWare software programs. In addition, the ideal candidate will have five years’ managerial or supervisory experience, and in the provision of leadership in the areas of budget, financial planning, development of financial policies, collections and asset management.
