Public Works – Maintenance Lead Hand
The Mayor and Council of the Village of Lytton are seeking a Public Works Maintenance Lead Hand to work under the supervision of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). The successful candidate will have the ability to prepare budgets and work schedules relating to public works activities, procure supplies, compile lists of major repairs and improvements for consideration of the CAO and the Village Council. The Maintenance Lead Hand will take charge of water and sewer systems including hydrants, pumps and valves. He or she will arrange for repairs to municipal buildings, vehicles and equipment, including emergency repairs in accordance with Village policies. This person is required to schedule staff, provide supervision, and designate work. The successful candidate will identify residents’ concerns/complaints and take appropriate action and/or bring the matter to the attention of the CAO. the Maintenance Lead Hand is required to liaison as necessary with other government agencies. In addition, he or she will be required as needed to work alongside the general labourers in the performance of manual labour such as using and maintaining various tools, picking up garbage, and maintaining buildings, parks, streets and sidewalks.
This is a union position (C.U.P.E Local 900) and pays $30.67 per hour, with a benefits package.
