Summary of Job Description:

The Canadian Mental Health Association – Cariboo Chilcotin Branch is seeking a qualified individual for a part-time Administrative Assistant position. The successful applicant will provide reception coverage at the front desk from 8:30-4:30 Thursdays and Fridays, sick days and holiday coverage.

Job Duties Include:

  • Interacting with the public, CMHA clients and staff members in a friendly and professional manner
  • Generating reports, managing room bookings, assisting the executive director and managers with administrative tasks
  • Managing two websites and two face book pages
  • Month end and deposits and other general reception duties.

The successful applicant will have related education and experience with Microsoft software and website management; must be a motivated self-starter that can work with limited supervision and must undergo a criminal record check. Previous experience/relationships with individuals affected by mental health issues is preferred.

Duties to include:

  • Answering Phones/Reception
  • Responding to enquiries via phone/email
  • Scanning documents to electronic filing system
  • Data entry into spreadsheets & QuickBooks online
  • Organizing office paperwork and filing
  • Preparing office letters, memos, emails and assisting with contracts
  • Running errands
  • Experience with Excel, Quickbooks Online and various email servers would be an asset, as would basic bookkeeping skills.
  • The ability to work in a fast paced office with multiple deadlines, as part of a team or on their own is a definite must.

Alcohol and Drug Counsellor

The Canim Lake Band is seeking a full time Alcohol & Drug Counsellor.  As part of the White Feather Family Centre health team, the successful applicant will be responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Canim Lake Band Alcohol & Drug Prevention, Treatment and Post-treatment services.

Experience & Responsibilities:

Possess a minimum of two (2) years experience directly related to alcohol & drug counseling, prevention/education, intervention and aftercare.
Demonstrate ability to work collaboratively, facilitating processes to address interpersonal and group dynamic challenges.
Coordinate workshops to meet requirements of addictions programs, services and schedules.
Ability to set priorities and be flexible in modifying daily tasks as issues arise.
Ensures intake forms, client records, reports, and residential treatment applications are accurate and reports and statistics are submitted as required.
Demonstrates ability to work independently and as a team player.
Assists in the collaboration between programs surrounding clients while respecting confidentiality.
Proficient in computer skills, internet searches, and technical communication.
Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills and empathetic understanding of First Nations cultural norms.
Ability to mobilize and respond to critical incidents and stress related issues within the community.
Demonstrates commitment to and promotes a lifestyle consistent with the expectations set out by the Canim Lake Band addictions program and services.

Qualifications:
Require certificate or diploma in health related field or equivalent training and experience.
Prefer candidates who have formal training in Alcohol &Drug Counselling.
Extensive experience and knowledge of First Nations culture including historical impacts of residential school, trauma, colonization, and addictions.

Salary:  $17.00 – $21.00 per hour
