Job Description and Responsibilities

Parallel Wood Products Ltd., a secondary wood manufacturing facility, located at 250 Hodgson Road, Williams Lake, B.C., requires a certified millwright with exceptional mechanical skills and aptitude, to perform industrial maintenance duties at our Finger-joint Plant.

 

Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:

  1. Ensuring that the plant and equipment are running in a safe and proper manner;
  2. Keeping downtime to a minimum by trouble shooting mechanical problems, repairing or replacing defective machinery as soon as possible (i.e. change finger-joint cutter heads, size changeovers-adjust machinery to ensure lumber is “on grade”, set up planer heads (once trained);
  3. Keeping current with preventative maintenance and maintaining accurate and complete records;
  4. Identify opportunities to improve production; and
  5. Follow safety rules and regulations.

 

Mill equipment includes but is not limited to:

Conveyors, hydraulic systems, plan, rip-saws, P.E.T. saws/deck, jointer assembly, stacker, in-feed, and grader decks. Experience in a Finger-joint mill environment is an asset; mechanical skills are essential.

Multiculturalism Program Coordinator

Summary of Job Description:

The Multiculturalism Coordinator identifies, develops and coordinates projects and programs to foster understanding and acceptance of differences, to increase equity and celebrate diversity and inclusion.

Plans and facilitates meetings, workshops, events and public forums to provide information, education and experience, and enhance awareness in the community.

  • Coordinates and facilitates meetings and events for diverse community groups of different ages, in cooperation with Multiculturalism Team and Advisory Committee.
  • Develops and maintains liaison with minority groups, other agencies, professionals, local governments, businesses and the community to ensure inclusion in all community projects.
  • Adheres to funding requirements for various projects and programs; ensures that all documentation is completed on time.
  • Writes proposals and grant applications at the direction of the Program Manager.
  • Promotes programs and events using local media, including social media and internet.

Job Qualifications:

  • Certificate from recognized post secondary institute in social work or related field; or equivalent of relevant work experience;
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of minority groups’ challenges, including historical impacts of residential school, trauma, and colonization.
  • Experience in group facilitation and event coordination.
  • Ability to develop strong, cooperative relationships with community partners.
  • Proposal writing skills.
  • Ability in organizing and chairing meetings.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Ability to act independently with little direct supervision.
  • Strong team working skills.
  • Ability to discuss sensitive and emotional issues within groups.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, facilitating processes to address interpersonal and group dynamic challenges.
