Manager of Public Works & Housing

The Bonaparte Indian Band is currently seeking a Manager of Public Works & Housing.

Reporting to the Band Manager, the Public Works & Housing Manager is a key member of the Bonaparte Indian Band senior management team and is responsible for the management, operation and maintenance of Bonaparte Indian Band (BIB) infrastructure systems, BIB owned buildings and other physical assets as well as the Band Housing Program(s). The Public Works & Housing Manager is also required to mentor and supervise the staff reporting to this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and administer the Public Works & Housing programs, services, properties and staff that fall under the department in order to ensure they are delivered and maintained in an effective and efficient manner
  • Planning, designing, estimating and project management for BIB projects
  • Manage and administer all related financial responsibilities and obligations in order to ensure that the department is operating within established financial legislation, terms and conditions and in accordance with BIB policy
  • Works in collaboration with the Lands, Economic Development and the Natural Resource Departments in projects requiring inter-departmental consultation
  • Supports the organizations work in establishing mission, vision and values, engaging constituents as appropriate toward the completion of a CCP, Land Use and other community related plans

Housing Administrator

The Bonaparte Indian Band is currently seeking a Housing Administrator.

Reporting to the Manager of Public Works & Housing, the Housing Administrator is responsible for the development, administration and delivery of all social and band housing programs, services and properties within the community of the Bonaparte Indian Band.

The Administrator must comply with all governing policies of the organization; and through the development and implementation of housing projects, ensure programs and services that are balanced, barrier free and inclusive to all.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and support a framework to manage and administer all social and band housing programs, services and properties
  • Collect rents and ensure that tenants are paying appropriate rent
  • Manage and administer all financial responsibilities obligations in order to ensure that the BIB programs are operating within established codes and standards
  • Provide support and advice to the Housing Committee (when developed) in order to ensure Members are aware of operations and able to make informed decisions
  • Develop community based housing programs
  • Maintain effective relations with all tenants in order to ensure they are aware of their rights and responsibilities

Comprehensive Community Planning Support Worker

The Bonaparte Indian Band is currently seeking a Comprehensive Community Planning (CCP) Support Worker.

The Bonaparte Indian Band has been active in Comprehensive Community Planning since 2015, moving into phase III of our CCP, this project requires a strong team to work together to carry out all necessary community engagement initiatives, communication strategies, data collection and analysis.

The CCP Support Worker will report to the CCP Strategic Lead and is responsible for providing support in the areas of communication, engagement and coordination efforts necessary to complete the initiative. This position requires an individual with high technical skills, and the successful applicant will be energetic and personable with strong knowledge of Bonaparte Indian Band, territory, culture and history. Being passionate about bringing the voice and vision of Stucwtewsemc people forward is a must.

Job duties will include:

  • Review background information of BIB history and CCP phase I and II
  • Gain a strong understanding of what CCP is and current planning initiatives
  • Follow annual work plan
  • Assist with coordination of community engagement initiatives including meetings, open houses, elder’s interviews, youth sessions and home visits
  • Assist with documentation of community engagement feedback (data collection)
  • Assist in updating and implementing communication and engagement strategies
  • Attend annual BC CCP workshop and participate in training sessions
  • Attend all available training opportunities
  • Work with BC CCP Mentor (CCP Mentorship Initiative)
  • Assist in facilitation as necessary
  • Assist with the coordination of community planning team and monthly advisory meetings
  • Assist with any necessary technical work such as taking meeting minutes, note taking, organizing data, transcribing interviews, etc.
  • Maintain Bonaparte CCP Facebook page and any social media communication
  • Assist CCP Strategic Lead in all additional tasks needed to complete project

Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of Bonaparte Indian Band structure, history, territory and culture
  • Post-secondary education and/or training an asset
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication

Reporting to the Band Manager, the Human Resources Manager is a key member of the senior management team and is responsible for human resource activities throughout the Administration. You will have an interactive role with the Band Manager and Team Leaders, providing support and leadership for all employees within the Bonaparte Indian Band Administration.

  • Development and Management of the Occupational Health and Safety Program
  • Development and coaching support for staff and employees
  • Recruitment of hourly and salary benefit plans
  • Facilitation and conflict resolution support for the division
  • Related Policy Development and Refinement as required

Required Skills:

  • A high degree of personal motivation and the drive to exceed expectations
  • Proven ability and experience in labour relations and administration of collective agreements
  • Strong negotiation, influence, mediation and conflict management skills
  • Experience in managing OH&S and Ability Management Programs
