Lillooet was founded as Mile 0 on the wagon road leading to the Cariboo and Barkerville gold fields, Lillooet was a child of the Gold Rush, like so many Cariboo towns. Serving as a terminus for boat routes across Harrison and Anderson Lakes, at the start of the first Cariboo Road, the town had swelled to almost 15,000 residents within twenty years of its founding.
Village of Ashcroft is where Wellness Awaits you. A small town nestled along the banks of the Thompson River with clean air, fresh water, locally produced foods, ample hiking and walking opportunities and affordable housing. We are often the official hot spot not only in BC but in all of Canada and shovelling snow only happens a handful of times each winter. The common feeling when you cross the river into Ashcroft is that you have come home.
