JOB SUMMARY

  • Collaborate with the Ministry of Education, the First Nation Schools Association, and the First Nations Education Steering Committee regarding program delivery.
  • Consult with parent(s)/caregivers on a regular and timely basis.
  • Supports the mission, vision, and values of Echen Deni.

Under the general supervision of the Manager of Arenas, Parks, and Aquatics or designate, the Arena Operator Level 2 handles ice making, marking, surfacing, and maintenance at the Kin and Memorial Arenas. They perform preventative maintenance, oversee Arena Operator Level 1 and Rink Patrol, and ensure a positive customer experience. This seasonal role also includes summer duties like mowing, gardening, and sports field maintenance, with potential year-round outdoor work in various weather conditions.

 

Requirements:

  • Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Grade 12 education or equivalent.
  • Current OFA Level 1 Certification.
  • Refrigeration Operator Certificate (must be completed within 6 months of date of hire), or higher.
  • Compliance with and approval of Security/Reliability Clearance and Criminal Record Search.

Health Director

Summary Statement

Esk’etemc is seeking a highly motivated and innovative individual to work as the Health Director, who will report to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).

The Health Director is primarily responsible for the management of program and service delivery of all Esk’etemc health programs, including direct services to clients, delivery of health promotion programs and direct services that augment and support these programs.

The Health Director will work a standard 35-hour work week (Monday – Friday)  but, must be flexible in scheduling work hours to best accommodated clients, activities, and other functions as required.

The Esk’etemc community is located in a beautiful valley located approximately 55 kilometres southwest of Williams Lake, British Columbia, Esk’etemc is part of the Secwepemc Nation.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage personnel and payroll correspondence related to recruitment, hiring, performance evaluations, supervision, termination, and staff training, or change in department codes.
  • Develop and maintain a project filing system that is accessible and organized, per fiscal year, or as per the funding agreement terms.
  • Responsible for all facets of programming and service development and delivery, from proposal writing (in conjunction with the CAO) through planning, budgeting, implementation, evaluation and report writing.
  • Ensure consistency of quality, accountability and high standards in all programs and services – both client support and education. This includes providing training for staff and developing procedures, models and comprehensive frameworks of delivery.
  • Maintain accurate and complete statistical records, both qualitative and quantitative, for all programs and services within the department, providing funders, particularly First Nations Health Authority, with comprehensive details on programs offered.
  • Provide quarterly reports to the Managing Director on departmental progress in the health programs and services.
  • Ensure consistent and meaningful evaluation of all programs and services is carried out in order to assess their impact and success and to make needed changes and improvements as indicated.
  • Provide positive leadership to all staff, encouraging a team approach, professional attitude, personal wellness and good management – staff relations, always modeling best practices in this regard.
  • Develop an annual department operating plan in accordance with funding agreements and in alignment with Esk’etemc strategic plan.
  • Develop an annual budget and to monitor and be accountable for all program and service expenditures.
  • Monitor and complete appropriate reporting to funders.
  • Work as a Panorama Security Officer should be familiar with and remain current in:
    • Our community security laws, if applicable;
    • Security principles and best practices;
    • Nation’s security policies and procedures.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public/Community Health, Nursing, Social Work or other related field with a minimum three (3) year’s management experience in a health and social services related setting, or an equivalent combination of education & experience.Requires a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Indigenous cultures and backgrounds and the understanding of how culture impacts on communication patterns and attitudes and approaches to health issues.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience liaising with various regulatory services.
  • Knowledge and experience in planning, development and implementation of health and wellness programs and community-based service delivery.
  • Experience developing a variety of written reports, policy and procedures, analyses, presentation and other documentation in accordance with organization directives and/or regulatory guidelines.
  • Experience and knowledge of program and staff evaluation.
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills, plus strong negotiation skills, the ability to keep confidential documents
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Access, Power-point, the Internet, and email).
  • Experience in program planning, creating budgets, annual work plans, along with deliverables and the evaluation processes.
  • Ability to solve problems, make effective decisions, resolve conflicts and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to adapt health services to meet local community needs and to ensure safety and sensitivity
