Job Title: Casual Community Mental Health Support Worker
Reports to: CMHA – South Cariboo Branch Executive Director

JOB SUMMARY
The successful candidate for this casual position will be trained to work in 4 programs: Homeless Outreach, Activity/Clubhouse and SIL Outreach (Supported Independent Living), and the Acquired Brain Injury Program.
The Homeless Outreach program provides support to individuals that are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
The Activity/Clubhouse and SIL Outreach programs assist clients with lived experience of mental illness, substance use and/or complex health and mental health challenges to be included successfully in the community by providing appropriate care to meet individual needs and situational requirements and providing a variety of day-to-day physical, emotional, and social supports, advocacy, life skills assistance, information and resources.
The Acquired Brain Injury Outreach program provides a variety of day-to-day supports, advocacy, life skills assistance, information and resources to referred individuals with an acquired brain injury.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Mental Health, Community Social Service or related certification or recent, related experience of two years or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience or other qualifications determined to be reasonable and relevant to the level of work
· Class V BC Driver’s License
· Certificates in CPR, First Aid, and Food Safe

· Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
· Experience working with individuals with addictions and/or mental health issues.
· Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others as a contributing team member.
· Ability to operate related equipment
· Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
· Ability to organize and prioritize
· Ability to observe and recognize changes in clients
· Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients
· Intermediate computer literacy skills
· Ability to instruct
· Ability to analyze and resolve problems
· Conflict resolution and crisis intervention skills
· Advocacy skills
