Job Description

Safely drive quad and B train logging trucks to various mill in the southern and central interior. Full Time and Temp work available, 4 openings to start May 22nd.

Qualifications

Class 1 drivers license. Safety orientated. Clean drivers abstract. Able to do minor maintenance on log truck and trailer. Ability to fill out log book, maintenance book, etc. Ability to read texts and follow directions to remote sites. Responsible for legal loads chaining up, wrapping up, truck logbook, following mill and logger procedures.

Lumber Grader – Forestry

Job Summary
You are an experienced Grader Operator, with a clear understanding of log and cant species within the forest industry. You will be responsible for grading all incoming wood for sawmill specifications and performing other general sawmill activities and tasks.

Responsibilities
Operate the Lumber Grading station to ensure a continuous flow of wood from the Lumber Grading station to the J-Bar and green chain
Maintain lumber grading to company and NLGA standards
Organize and grade wood products to the required specification
Inspect all graded lumber to ensure correct position and grading
Straighten lumber on transfers as required and ensure only one board per lug going through trim saw
Clear jam-ups from the Lumber Grading station and assist others clear jam-ups as required
Communicate with other employees in sawmill production regarding current requirements and incoming inventory
Meet productivity goals in a safe and consistent manner
Comply with all task-specific safety requirements, help ensure site equipment is serviced, maintained and operated safely, and inform supervisor of any associated hazards
May perform other related duties as assigned by management

Requirements
NLGA grading ticket an asset
Must have experience in sawmill industry – handling, sorting and processing logs
Must have a clear understanding of log and cant specifications (species, grades, and diameter sorts)
Must have a clear understanding of grading requirements for designated species
Must possess the ability to prioritize and respond to challenges faced in sawmill production
Must be organized, an effective communicator, quick and accurate thinker and detail orientated in all aspects of the job
Must have excellent hand-eye coordination
In good physical condition suited for repetitious lifting
Must have the ability to make clear legible grade marks in a fast paced environment.
Must successfully complete pre-employment drug & alcohol testing

Work Conditions
Working outdoors and in various weather conditions
Working all shifts (Days and Night)

Millwright – Cant Mill

You are a Millwright (Industrial Mechanic) with 2+ years of experience, interested in the forestry industry with a high personal commitment to safety. You will be responsible for scheduled maintenance, repair, installation, and modification of all sawmill-related equipment. You will utilize your expertise to maximize uptime, quality, and production.

Responsibilities
Read diagrams and schematic drawings and service manuals to determine work procedures
Fit bearings, align gears and shafts, attach motors, and connect couplings and belts to precise tolerances
Align and test equipment to make any necessary adjustments
Perform predictive and operational maintenance using procedures such as vibration analysis, and repair or replace defective parts when necessary
Service and repair hydraulic, pneumatic and programmable logic controls (PLCs)
May do some tack welding and fabrication as well as maintain an inventory of replacement parts
May perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements
2+ years of Millwright Maintenance experience
Production, operating or manufacturing experience would be an asset
Welding experience would be an asset
Knowledge of the lumber manufacturing process would be an asset
Must successfully complete pre-access drug and alcohol testing
Must have strong work ethic and the ability to work under minimal supervision

Work Conditions
Local candidates will be considered due to the location of this project
5/2 swing shift, rotating every two weeks between 7AM-3:30PM and 4:30PM-1AM
Work will be performed indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions
