Job Description
Carrier Chilcotin Tribal Council (CCTC) is seeking to hire an Accounts Payable Clerk to support Finance. The position will work out of the CCTC office located at 59-1st Ave South, Williams Lake, BC.
Essential Functions and Duties
- Maintain accurate accounts payable account balances (including posting payments, applying prepayments, and account adjustments).
- Administer the accounts payable process.
- Match receiving/POs against vendor invoices to post into accounts payable system.
- Investigate and reconcile discrepancies between receiving/POs and vendor invoices for incorrect charges with department heads and vendors, if required.
- Verify vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions.
- Process expense claim payments per authorized documents.
- Reconciling accounts payable sub-ledgers to control account, monthly.
- Coding expenses to accounts and cost centers per authorized purchase order.
- Ensure taxes are coded to applicable ledger accounts.
- Maintains historical records by filing documents.
- Perform duties as assigned by the Administrator and Finance Officer
- Apply the above accounts payable duties to assist all department supervisors.
- Answer telephone calls as and when needed.
- Relieve reception as needed.
- Be able to do the payroll.
- Filing using Content Central.
Qualifications
- The successful candidate must possess a recognized post secondary degree, diploma or certificate in office/administrative management/assistance (an acceptable combination of recent related work experience and education will be also considered) ;
- 3-5 years recent experience working as an Accounts Payable Clerk or related work, preferably in Accpac using fund based accounting.
- 1-3 years’ experience working for a First Nation government, business or organization is an asset.

- The candidate must have a demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team;
- Highly organized and able to work with minimal supervision to meet deadlines;
- Should demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills;
- Possess the ability to network, build effective relationships, communicate appropriately and represent the CCTC at meetings and other gatherings;
- Should have good knowledge of Carrier and Chilcotin communities, organizations, culture and traditions.
