Interior Health is currently seeking a Casual Community Health Worker for the Ashcroft Hospital and Health Centre.

As a Community Health Worker, you will work as part of a dynamic team of Nurses and LPN’s who support Community Clients’ independence and ability to stay at home. Community Health Workers provide home support services to clients, by assisting with personal care and daily living, while promoting maximum independence. Community Health Workers are key players in the home health care plan for each client.

Typical duties include:

  • Activities of daily personal care, such as bathing, dressing, grooming and oral hygiene
  • Household duties related to maintaining a safe and healthy environment in the home
  • Meal preparation in accordance with designated plans
  • Assistance with mobility and transfers
  • Observing and reporting changes in client behaviour and condition
  • Performing delegated tasks according with training and procedures

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12
  • Graduation from a recognized Resident Care Aide/Home Support Worker Program or an equivalent combination of education, training and relevant experience

The Financial Services Representative has individual performance targets and is expected to meet their goals on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis by following a disciplined approach to completing sales activities.

You will receive extensive sales and credit training related to CIBC products and services, on established guidelines and procedures, systems and proprietary tolls to help you meet client needs and ensure the highest quality of service and advice is delivered.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Engage with several clients every day to meet their immediate and future needs, offer advice, handle objections and complete sales for both personal and small business clients
  • Proactively contact clients by phone to identify potential client needs, and schedule appointments to further discuss clients’ opportunities
  • Seek to understand and advise clients based on a comprehensive financial planning approach including cash management, credit, investment and wealth protection
  • Demonstrate the benefits and assist clients in using all channels such as Bank Machines, Telephone Banking, Mobile and Online Banking
  • Resolve client problems quickly and/or refer to colleagues, as appropriate
  • Work as part of a team to ensure the client is receiving the most appropriate advice and introduce them to the appropriate colleague to meet their needs
  • Keep current on CIBC products and systems to close any gaps in knowledge
  • Introduce clients to CIBC’s best-in-class online and mobile banking technology (e.g. Tablet, ATM, Online and Mobile “apps”)
  • Participate in marketing and business development activities such as client acknowledgement programs and client appreciation activities

Background

The Esk’etemc First Nation is seeking an energetic and dedicated individual to perform the duties of Director of Social Development. The Esk’etemc First Nation will establish a “people-oriented” approach, strive to provide members with a wide range of welfare services, including income assistance, services for the elderly, medical social services, and related support services. The successful candidate will coordinate supports and services with health, education, justice and Esk’etemc administration and businesses to build capacity within Esk’etemc.

In the face of the increasingly complex social problems, The Director of Social Development will forge partnerships with businesses and governments, including local governments to provide a range of social services including access to training and employment opportunities.

Summary of the Position

The successful candidate will utilize all aspects of the Income Assistance Program to the benefit of Esk’etemc Income Assistance clients and eligible community members. Individual counselling, life skills, individualized programs and advocacy, work experience and job placement are all necessary on a one on one basis in order for Income Assistance clients and families to succeed.

The position is responsible for Income Assistance and social services to the membership in a client centered approach; conduct assessment and counselling of social assistance clients; develop a plan of action to assist the clients with the transition to training and employment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Mandatory Requirements:

• A valid driver’s license is a mandatory requirement and access to a reliable vehicle is mandatory.

Education:

The successful candidate should have a Bachelor of Social Work post-secondary education and experience in working with First Nations Administration, preferably in the area of job counselling and social development.

Knowledge:

Knowledge in the following areas is required:

• a basic understanding of Income Assistance or Social Assistance Programs;

• administering programs and office administration;

• basic accounting processes; and

• a basic understanding of INAC program that is designed to address Income Assistance   Program client’s by addressing barriers to employment.

Abilities & Skills:

The successful candidate should possess the following:

• ability to speak the Secwepemc Language would be an asset;

• ability to use Excel spreadsheets, and ability and experience using Microsoft computer programs such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word and the email program Outlook;

• excellent communication/interpersonal skills required to develop effective working relationships with clients and staff; and

The shifts are: 8:00 am – 2 pm and occasional evenings 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm with availability on call to pick up and cover day and evening shifts when required or cover coworkers on holidays with possible overnight. The Regional Entomologist serves as the local expert and representative providing professional and scientific advice and opinions related to forest insect detection, monitoring, population dynamics, treatment and mitigation.  Responsibilities include assessing current and potential forest insect problems and opportunities, with a specific focus on bark beetle and defoliator management, development and implementation of applied research, insect control projects, and extension services.

The position participates in the development of operational and/or strategic plans, legislation, standards, management practices and strategies that address key entomological issues, with the goal of minimizing or mitigating potentially serious economic and stewardship impacts posed by certain insect infestations, such as mountain pine beetle.
