Integrative Vegetation Management Technician

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES

– Inventory and control vegetation (native/invasive) throughout British Columbia.
– Select and implement appropriate management and control practices.
– Promote awareness of invasive species and integrated vegetation management practices to the public on a day-to-day basis.
– Collect and interpret vegetation population data and monitor control efficacy.
– Working outdoors. Work localities include highway and resource road rights-of-way, oil and gas and utility infrastructure, facilities and sub-stations.
– Operation of ATV’s and pick-up trucks on a daily basis on various road conditions.
– Some projects will require brush saw and chainsaw operation.
– Position requires travel throughout the province.
– Other duties as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
– Ability to work away from home for shifts on 10 days on and 4 days off
– Ability to acquire the required provincial pesticide applicator or exterminator license
– Ability and desire to collect high quality, and accurate data
– Experience in vegetation management is an asset.
– Any educational background in Natural Resources, Forestry or Environmental is an asset.
– Strong proficiency in using a chainsaw considered an asset
– Provincially relevant first aid or equivalent
– Valid unrestricted driver’s License
– Experience using ATVs, or other off-road vehicles is an asset.
– Able to work outside and in a range of weather conditions
– Physically fit to work and walk in a rough terrain area
– Ability to adapt to a dynamic, fast-paced, and ever-changing environment.

Front Desk Guest Service Agent

This job is best suited to someone who loves to greet people with a smile, a pleasant attitude and have strong interpersonal skills.

We will train for all of the following duties and requirements.

Hotel Accommodation

–  Organize every shift for checking guests in or out of the hotel.

–  Maintain an inventory of vacancies, reservations and room assignments.

–  Communicate with fellow employees for all aspects of a guest’s stay, their requests and requirements to make it a great stay!

–  Computer experience is helpful but you will be taught how to use our hotel system while training for this position.  There is ongoing training through the Wyndham hotel system.

There are three 8 hour shifts at the front desk.  Each shift is a little different.  There is paperwork on each shift and the audit shift, 11pm-7am, gets the hotel ready for the next day.  All occupied guest rooms are noted for the housekeeping department for check-outs or stays.  This is an important aspect for each department to run smoothly.

There is a  part time shift and full time shift available.  The full time shift has room for advancement to move into a supervisory role.  We need employees to cover shifts for the current employees to have vacation time.   You could work part time or discuss what jobs there are to be filled.

We want employees to offer a great place to stay in Williams Lake and offer service that is over and above what a guest may expect.  This could be the place where people can meet friends and family, have great service and have a wonderful time contributing to many good memories.

Starting wage: $17.40 to start and will be increased based on experience and the ability to do the job. The job offered that will lead to a supervisory position will be at a higher rate. This will be discussed in an interview.

Wage:  $37-$40

Qualified Applicant:

  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Have demonstrated experience counselling primarily adult with some youth addictions capabilities
  • Able to deliver a variety of workshops using trauma informed and cognitive behaviour therapy techniques
  • Guide one on one counselling
  • Relevant post-secondary education with equivalent combination of education and experience is required
  • A benefit would be having knowledge of Indigenous culture and comfortable with all aspects
  • Able to work with a variety such as single moms, couples, men’s programs.
